CONGRATULATIONS Andie and Jordan!

Here is a little about the winners:

OUR STORY….

Jordan and I have seen each other grow for the past twelve years and have been the best of friends through most of it.

I met Jordan on the first day of seventh grade here in Glendale. I remember that I was in my “Blossom” phase and I was wearing these ridiculous purple shorts and a hat with a sunflower on it; Jordan had a classic bowl cut with the early 90′s bangs that boys used to sport. I distinctly remember feeling incredibly relieved that I had found a new friend on my first day at a new school, but never imagined that our relationship would blossom into this amazing love story.

Jordan and I started dating our senior year in high school– he was the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and I was his editorial writer. We both went to different colleges but stayed incredibly close and maintained a commitment to each other through thick and thin.

Jordan is my best friend and my biggest fan. I believe that I am his best friend and his biggest fan. We love photography, art, soy-chai-lattes, pasta, learning, our george foreman grill and our friends and family.

We both are in the middle of a huge transition period between graduating college and enrolling in professional school, so you can understand that adding a wedding to that mix makes things a little complicated. I am (hopefully) on my way to medical school and Jordan is on his way to law school. We are on a really tight budget for the parts of the wedding that we are responsible for, but believe that photography is something that you cannot trust to just anyone. The photos from your wedding are incredibly important because they are memories of the first day of your life together. They become a part of your family’s history, and a true testament to who you were when you got married. We love the classic feel of your images, but appreciate your artistic approach to wedding photography.

OUR CHARITY….

Healing Hearts Across Borders

I have worked/volunteered with this organization many times and I am consistently blown away by the amazing things that they manage to accomplish in two days.

what they do:
I’m sure you could read the blurb on HHAB’s website, but you can never really understand what happens until you’re standing there, on a dirt lot in Mexico seeing medicine at it’s best. From someone who has witnessed it firsthand, it is the most uplifting, inspiring and humbling experience I have ever had!

Basically, a team of undergrad students, med students, doctors and dentists travel down to Mexico one weekend every three months to provide basic medical care to some of the poorest neighborhoods of Tijuana. The teams set up mobile clinics on two different sites over two days, the first being inside a HUGE wooden dome and the second being on top of an old trash dump. Patients who come and seek care can see a general practitioner, a pediatrician, a psychologist and a dentist; they are offered free medications, clothes, food staples (like sacks of rice and beans) AND a warm lunch! The children that are waiting for their parents may play games to accumulate tickets and then cash them in for neat prizes!

I am so blessed to have found this organization. It makes me remember how lucky I am to have grown up in America. I am incredibly grateful to serve as a medical interpreter for them and hope to continue my work with them for years to come.
