{ Vacation!! }

I was blessed enough to take my first vacation in many years last week. My husband works for a fantastic Blues artist that was playing on the Playboy Jazz Cruise. I was so grateful to be booked to go along too. We went through the Caribbean stopping at a few different islands, listening to amazing music the whole time. We first stopped at San Juan Puerto Rico, then to St. Barths in the French West Indies, then to the island of Nevis, then to a small island in the Bahamas called Half Moon Cay that the cruise line actually owns!! The world of cruises was not something I had ever thought about before and not a vacation I would have thought to book myself. But it really was exactly what I needed…to be detached from the world of technology that I so desperately rely on, and to not have to think and just relax. Awesome.

Here are some shots I took in our travels, I hope you enjoy them!

Happy Anniversary to ME!!

October 14th is my 2 year anniversary married to my wonderful handsome husband! I just wanted to celebrate that by posting one of my own wedding photos! We were married at Mt. Woodson Castle in the hills outside San Diego. It is this amazing old stone estate surrounded by boulder filled mountains, perfect for us… It rained until half hour before our outdoor ceremony and then perfect soft clouds. It was wonderful. I am running to the airport for a wedding on the east coast, I would like to post more when I get back, I just ran out of time! Photography by the wonderful Bil Zelman, Zelman Studios.

Please, I Need A Home….

This is my cat Stasia. She is 7 years old and needs a good loving home. She is really affectionate, loves to sleep with you and cuddle and she is very well behaved. Several months ago, I developed an allergy to cats. I am not sure why it suddenly developed, but I can no longer give her the attention she deserves.

Here is her story…
On September 11, 2001 I was living in Philadelphia. When the planes hit the towers in New York, my husband and I were awoke by his father calling from a block away from the Trade Center in panic. We were disconnected and unable to reach him again. Concerned that Philly would be the next target, and worried if his dad would make it home safely, we left the city for New Jersey to wait for his dad to come home. After waiting several hours we were with some friends for distraction. One of them had found abandoned kittens in her back yard. Stasia was this little furry ball of pure love on this horrible horrible day, and I absolutely had to take her home with me. Her affection and innocence gave me comfort during that tragic time, and I am so grateful to have had her in my life.

It pains me greatly to have to give her up for adoption, but I know she needs more love than I can give her now.
If you know anyone that would make a good match for her, please let me know ASAP.
She is an indoor cat, with her claws, likes women better than men, and will get along with other animals, but prefers people.

Threatening Fires…

I just wanted to send out my thoughts and prayers to everyone being affected by the fires this week. My husband and I had to evacuate Sunday afternoon when the fire came within 30 yards of our home in Canyon Country. We had to drive away from our home with the fire that close and no one there to put it out, not knowing if it would still be there when we returned. Looking at the damage around us, it is a miracle the fire did not reach our house knowing the conditions of the wind and lack of man power when we left…

We are home now with minimal damage to our street, and very grateful to all the brave firefighters risking their lives to keep us safe. Two of my clients this year are firefighters living in this area, and I am honored to know them, and their beautiful wives that have to be so strong all the time.

I want to let everyone know that the first thing I grabbed when I thought I would lose everything was my hard drives and my cameras! My husband grabbed all the important papers…etc. All of my clients images are backed up in multiple places anyway, but I wanted you all to know they were never in danger and are always one of my main priorities. I am, however, a little behind this week on my work because of this…

Here are some images I took when we first noticed the smoke coming over the hill, and some of the burnt hill afterwards.That is my handsome husband on our roof trying to see if the fire was coming closer, and the burnt shots are taken from my front door. I am praying for everyone who was not as lucky as we were and for those that are still in danger.
