{ Wedding Planning Tips from the Experts! }

This wonderful advice comes from the talented ladies at Fresh Events Company

Here’s a snapshot of tips for anyone planning a fabulous wedding or event:

- Venue: host your party on a weekday, Friday or Sunday to have a negotiation edge.

- Bar: this is often a big cost. Choose a few special drinks that are highlighted for the entire evening. You can control your costs this way. Ie: have a beer bar (which is cheaper than hard alcohol) and throw in a fun theme that matches what you’re doing: “Create your own Octoberfest”.

- Food: Choose a few crowd pleasers that people can graze on. It doesn’t need to be filet mignon – it can be mac and cheese or comfort food, people will love it all the same (of course, have the food match the formality of the event).

- Event Planner: Hire an events planner who will create the look and feel of the party and watch out for your bottom line. Event planners know all the tricks/tips to save and are well worth the investment!

- Décor: Add some life to the party by adding some great décor with plants and succulents. It’s green, long lasting and a little more masculine. Candles are also a great way to add ambiance to an event. Lots of them! Make sure you check with the venue about fire permit first.

{ The Wedding Day Timeline }

The timeline of your wedding day is one of the most important and overlooked elements of your planning. With my clients I like to help any way I can to determine it if they aren’t using a coordinator because it is absolutely crucial to having things go the way you want them to. The timeline includes everything from when you wake up that morning until you get to your Honeymoon Suite that night!! You may feel that you want your day to be relaxed and not plan every minute of it, but I can tell you from experience that you will actually be much more relaxed if you plan everything out properly from beginning to end. If you need any help or tips about what takes how long…etc. please feel free to ask me. I also have some wonderful coordinators that can be there for you every step of the way, or just on the day to make sure you can be relaxed and really enjoy your wedding day. After all, that is the idea, right? :)

{ Ceremony Magazine ~ featured }

Ceremony Magazine is one of the best and most beautifully designed magazines for wedding planning in Southern California. Their abundance of photos, high class vendors and featured weddings is enough inspiration and guidance for the most discerning bride. I used this magazine when planning my own wedding and I am honored to be part of the pages of this magazine now. Here is the layout with one of my weddings, Alice and Dung’s wedding in a San Francisco winery from May 2008, that is featured in this years issue of Ceremony Magazine. I also have a featured image on one of the covers this year I am told, so stay tuned for that this summer!!

{ The Photobooth }

A new and awesome option for your reception, Meghan Aileen Photography will now be offering a “Photobooth” set up for our weddings. While not exactly a “booth” the backdrop and lights set up is more like a studio shoot with the results of a fun photobooth concept.

You can choose from the old school vintage black and white style images, or the fun and modern crisp color and black and white images. Either way this is a unique option and some really interesting memories to have!

Please email me to get more details or add this to your already booked package.

Enjoy!!! These are from Jessica and Michael’s wedding on January 18th, 2009. The bride and groom brought the fun props. You can choose to have props or no props, but it is certainly more crazy with the props! It also helps the guests loosen up in front of the camera when they have something to be silly with.

Why I love the “Getting Ready”

Some of my clients ask me “Why do we need to shoot the getting ready?”. I have to say this is one of most favorite times of the wedding day. The anticipation…the emotion…the beautiful details and moments…it is very exciting for me as your photographer. Some brides are nervous and stressed, and some are so excited they can’t stop smiling. My advice is to schedule the preparation before your ceremony with as much time as possible, because it will all take longer than you think and take it from me, that you don’t want to be rushed for those moments. The first time your mom sees you all dressed…the transformation of how you look everyday to the way you glow all done up! These are moments worth capturing. Here are a few examples from Jen and Josh’s wedding that I just love. I hope you love them too.

Hair and makeup

The most common cause of delays on the wedding day is the salon appointments. Schedule yourself first or second and make sure to allow enough time for transportation between locations. Getting your dress on is the last thing you will do before the ceremony in most cases, and it is a really special moment.
You don’t want to be rushed for that moment because your salon appointment ran late. Whenever possible have your hair and makeup teams come to you at the location to eliminate the need todrive from one place to another and get stuck in traffic…especially in LA as you all know!!

Have fun!

Scheduling…

Schedule everything on your wedding day for 20 minutes longer than you think it will take. You will be grateful and much less stressed/rushed and be able to enjoy your self more!
