{ Huntington Library and Gardens Weddings ~ collaborative project }

I had the honor of doing a shoot at the The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino. Newly open for weddings on the property, Huntington needed some images for their promotion. The talented ladies at Fresh Events have been chosen as one of the exclusive coordinators for the location and they coordinated this amazing shoot as well. A collaborative effort of some very talented people, including Alison of Le Petit Gardenia and her breathtaking florals, this shoot was really wonderful. Some very hard work went into this during our busy wedding season, and I want to thank all that were involved. The Huntington has so many botanical gardens, collections, and historically significant settings to experience a truly unique wedding. There is so much room for creativity.

{ Adee + Jonathan ~ style and tradition, a wedding at the Skirball }

This amazing couple hired me only 3 months after they met each other. It was love at first sight and they are so adorable together. Being around them you can feel their connection. Their grandparents made the long trip from Israel and were deeply honored at the event through the beautiful toasts and traditions. Adee and Jonathan wanted to have a traditional Orthodox Jewish wedding with a whole lot of style! It was beautiful mix of tradition, modern style, family roots and lots of dancing! Thanks Adee and Jonathan for having me! And a special thanks to Chelsea Elizabeth for the awesome guys shots and some of the details.

{ Tammy + Kevin ~ beautiful summer colors wedding }

I am always honored to be chosen by another photographer to shoot their wedding. Kevin is a talented commercial photographer and these two are such a sweet couple. They seem so effortless together, it is obvious their bond is for a lifetime! I had a great time shooting this wedding and the fantastic color combination made for beautiful and unique details. I also loved how the girls dresses and flowers stood out in the park against the oak trees! Thanks for having me, Tammy and Kevin, I wish you all the best in your life together…

This amazing wedding was such a joy to capture, the people, the locations, the details, all gorgeous!! Heather and Joe have such great taste! I LOVE a bride willing to get dressed outside for pictures! The beautiful maid of honor gave them the most amazing gift of the dove release and an incredibly touching speech to go along with it. These two truly are loved and seem to compliment each other perfectly. A special thanks to Whitney Drake of Wish Wonder Dream for coordinating this amazing event! Congratulations Heather and Joe! { Wedding Planning Tips from the Experts! }

This wonderful advice comes from the talented ladies at Fresh Events Company

Here’s a snapshot of tips for anyone planning a fabulous wedding or event:

- Venue: host your party on a weekday, Friday or Sunday to have a negotiation edge.

- Bar: this is often a big cost. Choose a few special drinks that are highlighted for the entire evening. You can control your costs this way. Ie: have a beer bar (which is cheaper than hard alcohol) and throw in a fun theme that matches what you’re doing: “Create your own Octoberfest”.

- Food: Choose a few crowd pleasers that people can graze on. It doesn’t need to be filet mignon – it can be mac and cheese or comfort food, people will love it all the same (of course, have the food match the formality of the event).

- Event Planner: Hire an events planner who will create the look and feel of the party and watch out for your bottom line. Event planners know all the tricks/tips to save and are well worth the investment!

- Décor: Add some life to the party by adding some great décor with plants and succulents. It’s green, long lasting and a little more masculine. Candles are also a great way to add ambiance to an event. Lots of them! Make sure you check with the venue about fire permit first.

For your next Fabulous wedding or event, contact Fresh Events Company and let the professionals help you create that buzzzz worthy event!
Have a gorgeous day!

{ Ceremony Magazine ~ featured }

Ceremony Magazine is one of the best and most beautifully designed magazines for wedding planning in Southern California. Their abundance of photos, high class vendors and featured weddings is enough inspiration and guidance for the most discerning bride. I used this magazine when planning my own wedding and I am honored to be part of the pages of this magazine now. Here is the layout with one of my weddings, Alice and Dung’s wedding in a San Francisco winery from May 2008, that is featured in this years issue of Ceremony Magazine. I also have a featured image on one of the covers this year I am told, so stay tuned for that this summer!!

Your wedding is an event to express yourselves. Have a friend or someone close to you that is creative or artistic make something for you as a gift for your wedding. A cake topper or something to put on the sign in table is a great way to show people who you are and involve your loved ones. People will love to be involved and feel cherished that you asked them to participate in this way! Here are some ideas from Audra and Sean’s wedding and one from Tonya and Scott.

It all doesn’t have to match….

Typically with weddings everything matches….the place settings are all the same, the bridesmaids all wear the same dress…groomsman and their suits…etc…etc.
Things can complement each other without actually being the same. Choose a color and style and have your girls wear different dresses, dresses that complement their bodies and features but are still part of an overall theme. Same with the guys.

Also you can mix it up with your decor…each centerpiece can be different…choose the same flowers but in different colors…or the same colors but different flowers..

Even the chairs don’t have to all be the same, you can make each table unique but still have an overall cohesive look. As long as things are unified with color or theme or style the options are endless!

Reach into your inner creative self and show something a little special and unique to your guests!!

Love,
Meghan
