Monica said she loves color! So I chose this location with the orange and lemon groves, which I absolutely love. It has a natural and rustic feel, yet also clean and vibrant. Orange groves photograph so well, and the color just pops out at you. I love to try to get a bit of a vintage feel while still keeping great color in the images. This very handsome couple was such a pleasure to spend the afternoon with on a gorgeous day in sunny California. I hope you love these as much as I do!

I am so excited for Theresa and Jono’s wedding in Santa Barbara this weekend. These two are so easy to photograph! I tried to focus on using the greens and blues in their clothes and in the environment and pulled them out a bit in post production. I really wanted that soft but colorful look and these two were perfect for it! I love to include a lot of the environment in my images as well and this location is one of my favorites. What a handsome couple! We did Teresa and Kurt’s session at Leo Carrillo Beach in Malibu just before sunset, and they had some really great outfit changes for the session. Their amazing wedding will be at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena in October and it is going to be gorgeous I am sure!

After some frustrating antics with the management at the W Hotel in Westwood, where we were suppose to shoot first, we decided to head to have some fun at the Santa Monica Pier and beach! I love being around these two, they are so genuine and sweet and some of their interactions remind me of my own marriage, so I am so glad to be part of this with them. Here are a few of my favorites from this fun beach engagement session in Santa Monica. I hope you enjoy….

Ferry and Irene are having there wedding in their home country of Indonesia in June. I am so excited for them, but it must be so hard to plan a wedding that far away! I got married in San Diego and that was difficult at times! :) This stylish and adorable couple was really fun to work with and I am very happy with their images. After an adventure of very strict rules at Gardens of the World, we decided to head down the road to Paramount Ranch. With my new permit in hand, I just fell in love with this location. It is now my new favorite place!! The mixture of vintage editing and the couple’s modern style make this engagement session one of my favorites!

Abby and Aryan chose a wonderfully stylish and moody theme for their engagement session. Social Hollywood is one of the most interesting interiors in the city in my opinion. The variety of colors and textures and light is so inspiring and Abby and Aryan fit perfectly in the setting. We then headed to Hollywood Forever in search of some greenery and a different kind of beauty….

On the Sunday during the end of the fires recently, Tammy and Kevin and I did their engagement session in on the westside. Apparently all of the smoke from the fires in the valleys and Orange County were all settling in the Santa Monica area. I watched fires from my backyard for 4 days and the smoke was never as bad as it was in Santa Monica. But on a positive note it did create a very interesting quality to the light that I was definately going to exploit during this shoot. We started at Royce Hall at UCLA, where Tammy and Kevin met. Then headed to the beach for an apocalyptic looking sunset. Kevin is also a photographer and I am honored to be chosen for their wedding….

Abby and Aryan chose one of my favorite locations for their engagement session yesterday. Here is a first look at a couple of my favorites…more to come as soon as I catch up! :)

Cyndie and Mark are getting married in November at the beautiful Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach. We had so much fun at the Mission and at the beach, it was the perfect combination of locations! These two are so kind to each other it is inspiring to me as a wife. I can’t wait for their beautiful wedding…

Becca and Barrett wanted to do something a little different for their engagement session and include Becca’s other love…her horses! I grew up with horses and really loved shooting at the barn with them and felt very comfortable and connected to this shoot. Even though getting the handsome animals to pose was quite a task! A special thanks to Sarah for her help off camera! Looking forward to the wedding day, Becca and Barrett…

Jessica and Allen were so great to work with, and we had a beautiful cloudy day in Santa Monica. It started raining as I got in my car to go home…perfect timing!
