This handsome couple was so much fun to work with! We think Aryan must have been a model in his other life with his skilled poses! The lovely Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica was the setting for this elegant and modern, yet classic wedding. Their lovely families made it a wonderful event to be a part of. A special thank the the lovely Christine Marie for sending this amazing couple my way. Here are a few of my favorites from the day…

{ The Wedding Day Timeline }
The timeline of your wedding day is one of the most important and overlooked elements of your planning. With my clients I like to help any way I can to determine it if they aren’t using a coordinator because it is absolutely crucial to having things go the way you want them to. The timeline includes everything from when you wake up that morning until you get to your Honeymoon Suite that night!! You may feel that you want your day to be relaxed and not plan every minute of it, but I can tell you from experience that you will actually be much more relaxed if you plan everything out properly from beginning to end. If you need any help or tips about what takes how long…etc. please feel free to ask me. I also have some wonderful coordinators that can be there for you every step of the way, or just on the day to make sure you can be relaxed and really enjoy your wedding day. After all, that is the idea, right? :)
{ Suzette + Jason ~ the wedding }
Suzette and Jason celebrated their 15th anniversary with the big wedding they never had. These two are so sweet you would never know they are both military trained! Watching the slideshow they put together, I was in awe of the life long love these two have shared. Their daughter Kaitlynn is so animated and adorable and just fun to be around! Their family and friends obviously love them so much and it was an honor to be a part of this amazing event.

{ Award Winning Image ~ Photographer of the Year 2008 Contest }
I am a member of one of the largest professional photography forums worldwide, the Digital Wedding Forum. I love this forum so much and have learned an incredible amount from it as well as made some great friends and colleagues. DWF and Finao Albums sponsor a contest yearly for “Photographer of the Year”. The entries come in from worldwide from talented photographers everywhere. Out of many many beautiful entries, I was so honored to be chosen as the second place winner in the Wedding Day Category of the contest. I am thankful to DWF and Finao for the contest and to the talented worldwide respected photographers that judged the contest and the members that voted.

{ Ceremony Magazine ~ featured }
Ceremony Magazine is one of the best and most beautifully designed magazines for wedding planning in Southern California. Their abundance of photos, high class vendors and featured weddings is enough inspiration and guidance for the most discerning bride. I used this magazine when planning my own wedding and I am honored to be part of the pages of this magazine now. Here is the layout with one of my weddings, Alice and Dung’s wedding in a San Francisco winery from May 2008, that is featured in this years issue of Ceremony Magazine. I also have a featured image on one of the covers this year I am told, so stay tuned for that this summer!!

{ Jessica + Michael ~ the wedding }
Jessica and Michael were married at the Calamigos Equestrian Center in Burbank on January 18th. These two are so easy to photograph since they really are a couple of hams :) Can’t keep their hands off each other! Makes my job much easier! They also had my new Photobooth set up at their reception and it was so much fun. See the previous post about that for samples. Jessica had everything so well organized, it was really impressive! This couple is so sweet and considerate it was a joy to be part of this union…
Here are a few samples of my favorites, I hope you all love them!

{ The Photobooth }
A new and awesome option for your reception, Meghan Aileen Photography will now be offering a “Photobooth” set up for our weddings. While not exactly a “booth” the backdrop and lights set up is more like a studio shoot with the results of a fun photobooth concept.
You can choose from the old school vintage black and white style images, or the fun and modern crisp color and black and white images. Either way this is a unique option and some really interesting memories to have!
Please email me to get more details or add this to your already booked package.

Enjoy!!! These are from Jessica and Michael’s wedding on January 18th, 2009. The bride and groom brought the fun props. You can choose to have props or no props, but it is certainly more crazy with the props! It also helps the guests loosen up in front of the camera when they have something to be silly with.

{ Cyndie + Mark ~ the wedding }
Cyndie and Mark were married at the St Catherine of Siena Church and had the reception at Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California. Their families were some of the warmest people I have had the pleasure of working with and Mark and Cyndie are so incredibly in love. I am very happy for these two for what they have found. Watching the way they treat each other and look at each other is inspiring and beautiful, I was happy to be part of this perfect union. Thanks so much! I hope you love the images…

{ Tammy + Kevin ~ engagement }
On the Sunday during the end of the fires recently, Tammy and Kevin and I did their engagement session in on the westside. Apparently all of the smoke from the fires in the valleys and Orange County were all settling in the Santa Monica area. I watched fires from my backyard for 4 days and the smoke was never as bad as it was in Santa Monica. But on a positive note it did create a very interesting quality to the light that I was definately going to exploit during this shoot. We started at Royce Hall at UCLA, where Tammy and Kevin met. Then headed to the beach for an apocalyptic looking sunset. Kevin is also a photographer and I am honored to be chosen for their wedding….
Love,
Meghan

{ A Redhead in Ashes… } Becca’s Trash the Dress
An awesome last minute idea, one of my August brides, Becca decided to to a Trash the Dress in the burnt areas by Porter Ranch. This is my third time shooting incorporating the fire affected areas and I think I may do some kind of series with them! I just really love the contrast of her soft beauty and the harsh landscape and think her natural look went perfectly. I wanted her to be without hair and makeup done so that the shoot had a more real feel while still be somewhat abstract in concept. I hope you enjoy them! Thanks for braving the cold and ash tray smell, Becca! You were awesome! I am always looking to do great unusual concept type bridal shoots ladies! So let me know if you want to do one!
